Long live zines!

I've been collecting them for almost 30 years now and STILL get a thrill with every new zine I find/purchase.

I'm giddy over the fact that I created my first zines in 2024!!! Can't believe it took me so long lol.

Yep no Photoshop for me lol. I'm not gifted with patience and didn't have time to try learning to use it so I just went the cut & paste route.

Took WAY longer than I thought it would but I am happy with the results. Now I have something to trade with at zine fests; I always felt horrible going empty handed. Zines rock; I so appreciate the time and creativity of zine makers.

That sounds super cool tho! I’ll have to check out a zine fest. It sounds like a blast!

Good day, 49-year old born and living in Europe. Zine culture was very strong back in the 90s here and it makes me very happy when I see organisations like universities and public libraries supporting their preservation in the US. Nice article !

This is such an interesting read! As a 25-year-old aspiring journalist, I had no prior knowledge of zines, but I’ve learned so much from this post. The DIY approach and the freedom they offer creators is something I can definitely appreciate as someone who’s still building my journalistic presence. Thanks for sharing this — it’s a great reminder of the power of independent media!
